TECH FAIR

David Liu’s Smarter Image Search

In 2010, David Liu won Second Place in the Intel Science Talent Search  for his amazing AI image categorization project, Semantic Image Retrieval and Interactive Exploration of Large Image Collections. It all started when he tried to help organize his family’s photo collection more efficiently.

David Liu was trying to help organize his family’s photo collection, and became fascinated by the AI challenges of automated image categorization. When he showed his project at the local science fair, one of the judges was so impressed that he invited David to continue working on the project with him—at NASA.
Blogger Geek Dad got a live demonstration of David’s project at the 2010 STS public exhibition day, and posted this video with the comment: “David Liu explains his semantic image search engine. This application actually analyzes images for their content. The demo has to be seen to be believed.”
Not all scientific advances deal directly with saving lives or grand scale exploration, some projects are simply created to make our lives better. In the case of David Liu's image based search engine, his contribution to science will make our online lives easier, and make image searching a reality. David devised a way to program AI to search through large image collections and categorize these images automatically, which he calls Semantic Image Retrieval and Interactive Exploration of Large Image Collections. This cutting edge way to search through thousands of images at a time won him second place at the Intel Science Talent Search competition in 2010.
REFLECTION ON THIS PRODUCT:
The task given by the teacher was to search for a tech fair product already invented and talk about the details as well as give a a short reflection on how you found it. At first i searched tech fair products and i couldn't find it so i changed my search words and typed in"tech fair projects invented and i found 2 websites:
i found a product that would help the society or family to simply organize or
 search a pictures information.
